Supplementary SIR list on Monday; 27.23 lakh cases resolved, 19 tribunals set up for appeals in WB

The process of reviewing applications under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal has made significant progress, with authorities disposing of 27.23 lakh cases out of nearly 60 lakh pending applications so far. Officials confirmed that the supplementary list related to the ongoing verification exercise will be released on Monday.

The revision process aims to update and verify electoral records across the state. A large number of applications had been pending for scrutiny, prompting authorities to accelerate the verification and disposal process. With over 27 lakh cases already processed, officials expect further progress in the coming weeks as the remaining cases are reviewed.

Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court has constituted 19 tribunals to hear appeals related to the SIR process. The move is intended to ensure that individuals who wish to challenge decisions made during the verification process have a designated legal platform for redress. Authorities stated that the tribunals will help expedite the appeal mechanism and bring greater transparency to the process. With the supplementary list set to be released soon, officials expect the next phase of the revision process to move forward while ensuring that appeals are handled efficiently.
